Mr. Ali Jallow, a 4H The Gambia field officer in Central River Region (CRR) North, recently explained the organization's broader operational structure and its importance to the Gambian people.
In an exclusive interview with a Global Radio & TV reporter, Mr. Jallow explained that 4H stands for Clear head, Warm heart, Clever hands, and Good health.
Highlighting its impact, Mr. Jallow stated that 4H advocates for youth and women empowerment to reduce irregular migration. The organization provides funding through a revolving microfinance scheme to support 4H club communities across The Gambia, enabling members to gain essential life skills in agricultural production.
Beyond financial support, 4H supplies fertilizers to boost crop yields, organizes community cleanup exercises, and leads tree-planting initiatives to combat climate change and environmental degradation. Additionally, they conduct capacity-building workshops on the harmful effects of gender-based violence and child marriage.
Addressing the challenges they face, Mr. Jallow noted that funding constraints and rural-to-urban migration remain their greatest obstacles.
He called on the government, philanthropists, and other stakeholders to support 4H The Gambia and establish formal partnerships through Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs).
