Gambian Embassy Official Commends Returning Youth in Circular Migration Programme.
Mr. Saibo Drammeh, Counsellor at the Gambian Embassy in Madrid, has praised six young Gambian seasonal workers for honouring their contracts in Spain and returning home under the bilateral Circular Migration agreement Programme.
The diplomat joined the group during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Trade in Banjul on Wednesday 30 September,2026 after being invited to take part in the meeting.
The six men were selected for a second consecutive year following a successful first deployment. Officials emphasized that their return is crucial for maintaining open, legal employment channels between The Gambia and Spain.
Commending their conduct, Drammeh described their decision to return as an act of patriotism and loyalty to the country that protects future opportunities for other young Gambians, particularly after previous instances where some participants failed to return at the end of their contracts.
"Well managed circular migration programmes provide an important legal pathway for employment abroad while helping to reduce irregular migration," Drammeh said, adding that the sustainability of such initiatives depends on every party fulfilling their commitments.
