President Adama Barrow has framed the upcoming December 2026 presidential election as a defining choice for Gambians, characterizing the vote as a clear decision between moving backward or continuing forward with national development.

Speaking during his ongoing "Meet the People Tour," President Barrow urged citizens to evaluate the track record of his administration when deciding on their political future.

"You either start from backwards or continue forward," Barrow told attendees. "If you want to start from backwards, vote for the opposition. If you want to continue forward, vote for the NPP-led Alliance. The choice is yours."

During his address, the President outlined five core areas of focus for his administration: water, education, healthcare, electricity, and road infrastructure. Barrow asserted that his government has already fulfilled approximately 80% of the public's primary needs in these sectors, while noting that long-term progress requires both state support and individual initiative from citizens.
Barrow also challenged opposition parties to present concrete proposals rather than relying on empty promises. He specifically cautioned voters against unrealistic political pledges, such as assurances of distributing free bags of rice to households in exchange for votes.

Describing his tenure's achievements as "just the tip of the iceberg," President Barrow expressed gratitude for his administration's progress to date and reaffirmed his commitment to the electorate.

"I am your servant, and I am ready to deliver my promises," he added, leaving the final judgment to the Gambian electorate ahead of the 2026 poll.
