The Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, convened by Prefect Vittoria Ciaramella, met immediately just hours after the murder of a Gambian migrant Ebrihima Dibba on Viale XXIV Maggio street in Latina , Lazio Regione Italy . Ebrima was shot by unidentified people from a moving car on Wednesday 16th September, 2026 .

Investigations to track down those responsible and establish the motive are ongoing. In the meantime, local authorities have once again highlighted security concerns in the city, stressing the need to strengthen prevention and control measures particularly in the area near Trieste area , which has previously been the scene of other criminal incidents.

"As soon as I learned of the murder in the heart of our city, near the Church of the Immaculate Conception, I immediately called for a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security," Mayor Celentano said. "The request was promptly granted by Prefect Vittoria Ciaramella, whom I thank for her swift response and attentiveness."

"This is a deeply concerning incident that requires the utmost attention from all institutions," the mayor continued. "It is essential that full light be shed on what happened and that investigations are carried out with thoroughness, precision, and responsibility. I have full confidence in the work of law enforcement and the judiciary, who are tirelessly engaged in investigative activities.
All necessary efforts will be made to reconstruct events, including exploring potential links between last night's incident and previous occurrences in the same area. The main sensitive areas will be subject to increased security to prevent and combat further crime. The police presence will also be intensified in the area, and I thank law enforcement for their daily work and commitment to our community."
